The day before Queensday is called 'Koninginnenacht'. It means 'Queens night' and it is traditionally a night for all kinds of parties. Queensday attracts thousands of foreign party people who want to participate in one of the craziest celebrations of Europe. DJ's are no exceptions. The line-ups around the 30th of April are always phat.

Party organization 'Everybody' choose former cinema Corso for another successful party and again with a pretty solid line-up. Michel de Hey and Josh Wink began in a back to back final scratch setting and started working the crowd with some pretty though techno. Wink went a bit too freaky for the early hours, but de Hey balanced it well by keeping the bass rolling. The real back to back firework didn't actually erupt, but both guys had lots of fun and so did the crowd. Michel and Josh got the hands in the air quickly in the evening.

Darren Emerson was back at Everybody for again some though retro house. The last time I saw him play at Everybody he played very poor with a lot of mixing errors and no line in the set at all. This time wasn't much better technically. Lot's of useless mixing errors and those mixed that went technically right didn't actually match together. But... his charismatic movements and contact with the crowd resulted in a very fine set that resulted in pure sweat on the dance-floor. The mature crowd responded enthusiastically on classics such as Donna Summer's all time classic, which was one of the last tracks from Emerson before Sander Kleinenberg took over. He started with some great break-beat tracks to bridge from Emersons retro house beats to the more innovative progressive trance and worked the crowd.

A big compliment to the lounge DJ's at the entrance. This duo told me that they don't spin very often, but they accomplished a very laid-back atmosphere in the lounge area, which was great to catch up some gossip from old friends.

My final conclusion on this event: again a nice event by Everybody, with great names that performed like you might expect from them! No more no less. Nice audience, nice sound system and nice personnel! Leaving almost everybody with a top night out, but what happened to the VJ? I guess something terrible must have happened to him early in the evening, because we all greatly enjoyed that big screen with just one graphic all night. Maybe a joke, maybe something happened, but surely a missed chance to intensify the visuals and music on the crowd.
