Saturday June 12th was a important day for me: the first festival of the season. The whole week it was rainy and stormy weather, but the weather forecast or Soenda Outdoor looked promising and sunny. And with 20 degrees and a fair amount of sun it was the perfect weather for Soenda Outdoor.

Around 12.30pm we entered the festival terrain. The waiting line to get in was incredibly short, considering the fact the festival was sold out and it started at 11.00am. After getting our drink-coupons we walked around the terrain to see what was going on so far. At the main stage a fair amount of people was dancing in the sand. The stage was surrounded by grass where people were enjoying the beats of Joachim and the lovely soft grass.

Walking over to stage two it surprised me how empty it was. The lovely setting of the woods behind the stage and the trees in the middle of the area made me feel like I walked from the beach into the woods, which makes this a true back to nature festival. Wesdex was performing at the time and since it was so empty he looked up to us, smiled and waved, which invited us to start dancing. He had a big smile on his face which took my worries away: thank god he doesn't mind the empty stage!

How easy we could get our drinks blew my mind! I never experienced such a quick service at any type of club or festival. Maybe it was a bit dangerous, since it's not a drag to get your beer, you drink more! We decided to get our blanket and go back to the main stage to chill out and enjoy the sun.

'Every one danced like there was no tomorrow.'

In the mean time Lauhaus was playing, yet again, one of his groovy house sets; a perfect match with the sun and all the smiling people. The festival terrain was filled up pretty good, but there was enough space left to walk and dance around. The Turkish Onur Ozer was Lauhaus' follow up and the crowd loved his set so much! Every one danced like there was no tomorrow. But then I noticed something; the speakers were pretty close to the stage, so when you sat at the water side you were behind the speakers. The sound felt kind of shallow, even though it was a Funktion1 system. (more on this later)

In the meantime the line for the bathrooms got ridiculously long, especially for us females. It didn't take me long to dive behind the lockers to pop a squad. Because standing in line for 20 minutes just to pee is a waste of time!

OK, rushing back to the second stage where Anton Pieete was playing the last part of his set. The people around me looked like they never heard such a good set before, and the reactions I got afterwards made me feel a bit jealous. Wish I could have split my self in half. We stayed for Joel Mull's set which was obviously nice, deep and dark. It was a good switch after a mainly house filled day.

'The cops came and complained about the noise.'

Walking around between the two stages I noticed one thing: the sound was even softer than earlier in the day. Why? The cops came and complained about the noise. Which led to less dancing, more chilling. It was kind of lame, because the softer sound takes away the true festival feeling. Pan-Pot deserved a good quality sound with their set but they didn't get it.

Meanwhile, the bathrooms were a mess and many girls found the spot behind the lockers to pee. It was a hilarious sight: ten girls in a row underneath the locker truck. And for some strange reason the security didn't notice..

When we returned to the second stage Rino Cerrone had already started, and oh my, did he get those hands in the air! We danced, jumped, laughed and danced a little more! Before we knew it his set was over and the stage closed. So we hopped on over to the main stage where Secret Cinema had started to play, and lucky for us: Egbert was still behind the decks as well! The last half hour of the party was surely one of the best! All the hands were up in the air the whole time, and to be honest: it vibe wasn't that enthusiastic during the day.

"...sun overfilled festival, with happy people all over."

All together I would say the festival was a good begin of the season. I would have expected a little better sound, but the people made up for it.

A 7,5 out of 10 would be a perfect grade for this sun overfilled festival, with happy people all over! See you next year!
