Maurizio Nalli is a man with multiple guises, as a producer he is also known as MRZ, Marz and M-Seven. With over 200 productions in various genres of electronic music to his name since commencing his career in the early nineties, he also composes music for films and websites. As his MRZ alias he has debuted on Canadian based label Oh! Records with two digital releases, 'Ion Flux' and 'Probing Outer Worlds'.

The latest solo project by Maurizio is in his M-Seven pseudonym, concentrating on a core of ambient electronica. Entitled 'Activate', this album is the third release to feature on Oh! Records by the artist. Two of the tracks off 'Activate' have featured recently on compilation albums. 'Invisible' on the Café Del Mar Volumen Once cd and 'Electronic Flip' on the Interchill records compilation 'Earth Octave Lounge Volume 2'.

Electronic Flip slowly but surely eases you into this cd with a voyage into a safari like sound-scape with a tribal feel. Soaring female vocals, soothing strings and effected male vocal samples make this a musical mantra. Contained carries on the female vocal complete with a rhythmically mesmerizing piano melody before expanding beautifully with a 'Belfast' type vocal. The Return of the Moth starts off with a heavily delayed and reverbed male vocal sample before exploding into life with deep drums, stunning chords and an exquisite female vocal. The main section evolves into drum & bass type rhythms complete with an enchantingly moving melody.

Bilocation veers into break-beat territory and picks up the tempo further. There's lots of sonic depth to this track almost like two songs fused together into the one track. Rebirth feels just like that, emerging from the quietness and stillness then increasingly coming to life prior to catapulting you into the astral realms once again. Magnificent piece of music. Time Line takes you on a sweet and sour rocket ride for a trip drifting off into the mystical realms. Odyssey is a pious passage that is both relaxing and rousing.

Universal Earth is a delicate and contemplative portion designed to get you into synchronization with gaia herself. Invisible is a complete contrast to the title of the track. Full of body and soul it's easy to see why this was included on the Café Del Mar series, making a perfect accompaniment to a sunset. Extension is a fusion of sounds of the forest with a deep-seated human message intertwined. Centripetal is strikingly sublime and for me the standout track on 'Activate'. Crisp, intricate and with arpeggios and piano elements that will leave a lasting impression deep down.

Spiritual Spy brings down the tempo a notch with slow and rhythmic chants creating a lullaby inducing effect. Think Tank is another insightful track full of emotion that is somewhat subtle yet nevertheless powerful. Field of 7 is rather wistful, reminiscent of happy days gone by. Inner Truth is a wonderful way to round off the album, gradually bringing to a conclusion this tour de trance.

This album has got a bit of everything in it. Sounds from the east and west unite and fuse fluently with sounds of nature and man and woman. It is a consciously created composition intended as 'reflective energy for the mind', literally a seamless soundtrack to a spiritualist's escapades. 'Activate' will work well in all sorts of scenarios, from meditating to doing yoga to reading thought provoking books or just simply chilling and relaxing to.

If you want to 'Activate' and stimulate your body, mind and soul to arouse the spirit inside of you and fuel the inner fire, then this album is second to none and has a long lasting resonance to boot.
