Bets'n' Bluffs is the name of the latest Poker Flat label compilation. It features the essence of the Poker Flat single releases from the current season as well as a preview on songs to come. The first CD contains eleven songs, all chosen by the man behind Poker Flat, Steve Bug. The second CD features a bonus-mix by Martin Landsky, member of the Poker Flat family since the early days.

Disc 1 sees Steve Bug choosing for a non-mix album, catering to an audience of DJs. The first track is already one of the biggest minimal tracks of the last season: the Luciano Remix of Love Dose by Argy. An excellent start for an excellent CD, which contains many more gems.

Of course there is the great Trentemøller Dub Remix of Always Something Better. This is a song that combines a powerful arrangement, beautiful sounds with minimal snippets and a trancey climax, rendering it one of the freshest tracks on the disc; not a surprise as many have praised Trentemøllers recent studio output.

Spoonful of Lovin' from Märtini Brös is a nice, atmospheric, minimal song with a deep sound. My own speakers are really not enough, this is one of those songs you want to hear when you're out dancing somewhere, feeling the beat with your whole body.

Transmission from Guido Schneider is a song you want to hear louder. With its different deep layers, humming, a good up tempo yet nice beat that fits so well with Poker Flat, it simply makes you want to move, makes you want to hear more, makes you want to tell the whole world why you like this music so well. Makes you want to hear everything Poker Flat ever released!

Disc 2 is well mixed and put together by Martin Landsky. A song like Alien Experiments from Jamie Jones, one of the songs exclusively produced for this album, sets the tone with some acid-like tunes for this bonus-CD. A very catchy tune is also to find in Onehundredandthree Eggs by Steve Bug & Clé. With a nice and easy hi-hat sound all around. And while looking for a musical way to describe one of the sounds, the title of this songs somehow seems to make perfect sense.

All songs on this album have something in common. They all have a unique sound that makes them fit together, yet they all are one of a kind. A song like Shake It from Chardronnet vs. Afrilounge also has a familiar feeling around it. It's a feeling of coming home, a comfort feeling. Martin Landsky's 1000 miles is one of those songs that you've probably already heard here and there on a dance-floor. It has a dark tune and gets under your skin. It makes you float away in your brain, as well on the dance-floor as sitting back home!

And that's one of the great things with this bonus-CD. It would do great on the dance-floor, but it's also suited to listen to when you're sitting at home. It does taste like more nonetheless. More Poker Flat!
