Hailing from Washington, DC, Justin Katz is a true pioneer of tight house grooves, down-tempo beats and killer song productions of all styles. From breaks to progressive or techhouse, to tribal, to trip hop, to drum & bass, to straight up pop, the captain has been acclaimed in nearly every genre to date both for his original recordings and his remixing capabilities.

Now he brings us his latest album called 'Bang To This'. Starting off with the track 'What's Inside Of Us', combining lush pads and tight triphoppy beats, the mood is set immediately. Justin uses his own vocals in this track. Track 2 takes a more deep-housey approach. The vocals by David Bricken fit well in this tune. A very laid-back track. The next tune called 'Way You Like It' is a bit faster. Again Justin sings in this track himself, and it sounds quite good too.

'Liquid' is a tune that is very pop/rock-ish, a nice addition to the cd in my opinion, it gives the album a bit variation. The next track 'Temple (Deephouse Edit)' goes deep again. Tight housebeats and short guitar licks are used. Very nice. Moving on to the next track, 'Reach' has vocals performed by Petra Faulk, and they are very good. A housey track with break-beats and sweet pads.

The next track is 'One To Million', featuring Justin's vocals again. A laid-back track with neat guitars and soft beats. Track 8 of this cd is one of my favourites, 'Red Blood' mixes Petra's vocals with steady grooves and hot melodies. Next up is 'Temple (Original Mix)'. In contradiction to the 'Deephouse Edit', this tune has rough triphop beats. I prefer the deep-house edit.

'Sigh' is an ambient track. No beats, just warm pads and subtle sounds. A great relaxing track. The next track called 'In Dreams' starts off with heavy, dark beats. Some pads come in and the track evolves in to a warm break-beat piece.

'Whatever' is the next one up. This one is deep-house again. Very minimal beats and melodies are typical in this track. In the middle the track gets very funky. 'Take me away' has a triphop base, and evolves into a warm whole. Lushy pads are used very nice. Great vocals in this one! It doesn't say by who though.

Last track up is 'Hook's Theme Song'. Soft choirs and sea-sounds make a relaxing chill-track to end the cd with. Offering a lot of quality tracks in different styles, I really enjoyed listening to this. Justin is a quality producer that you should keep an eye on.
