Helmutvision (Recon Helmut) is the first full length cd in over two years from Brooklyn based pH10 and the debut release on their new label Helmutplex records. With previous releases like 'Needless to say', 'Deffender' and 'Choonz and Warez' they are pretty self-confident to rock the world.

Drum and bass in it's pure form. Old-school, old style driving basses that is about what you would hear in Helmutvision.

The intro is kicking off with a sliced guitar drive soon to be drained in a massive bass drive. Very old concept but still works well to have a intro.

Arrived at track two again a guitar drive pulsates the first seconds. Vocals by Pete Miser are preformed in a perfect way, if you ask me he is one of the best mc's I heard for a long time, his timing is just perfect.

Helmut Theme starts off a bit over self-confident with the words 'The helmet is soooo good', but then listening to the track you will need a helmet! Sick and ill are probably the best words to describe this bass line. It is really of a unique form and so pulsating you will have to get off your feet!

Track 7 leaves me flabbergasted. After hearing this blasting analogue sounds for some time now suddenly a ultra relaxed jazz feel dominates. The following lyrics are spoken in this twenty second track. 'For most young people masturbating is a good and safe substitute for having sex with another school nurse'.

'The red arrow (punk as fuck mix)' is a little over the top rough. It features a Chinese Kong Fu voice. Talking about 'red arrow', 'vicious weapons' and massive armies. It is certainly not in the same balance as the next song '4PM' which will be the best track on the cd. The pulsating beats and cutting edge analogue synths are just mind blowing!

T.P.C. is a very wise song: 'The chairmen of the board of directors of one of the largest rubber companies in the country once said to me that, according to his observations, everybody in the world is seeking happiness and there is only one sure way to find it, that is by controlling your thoughts! He was right!'

After hearing this message the underlying music does not matter that much, does it?

This cd is the one you will want to play in your super boosted car when driving along the boulevard. The only thing the audience will hear is the driving bass woofers which are fat as hell. Yet the sound inside your car will be a lot like the 'new' and 'refreshing' sound of 'Roni Size' back then. So a good cd produced in a tight sound but it just misses out on being 'new' and 'refreshing'.
