FANTASY

Swordtail Records is a relatively new label in the progressive scene. This by no means has limited them to exposure. Their first release Fantasy has already seen major plays by top DJs such as Sultan (Yoshitoshi, Bedrock, and WiFi Recordings), as well as Anthony Pappa, and Eve Falcon. Fantasy was produced by Native whom has releases on well established labels such as Segment Records, Babylon Records, GU Music & Pangea Recordings, and features vocals from Ani. Ani, is definitely a new name to the industry, however she is one that should be easily recognized in the future for having an epic sound to her voice. The Daniel Gregory mix starts out simple enough, but the builds into a weird didgeridoo pad that carries the rhythm throughout the song, blended with some minimal acid stabs. "It seems to me like Swordtail Records was trying to play things safe with this release," As much as I don't want to, I must say there is only one mix on this release that does well for my set lists. Although the other mixes are worthy of plays by some DJs, they do not seem to be cutting edge enough for me to hold interest in them. The Daniel Gregory mix starts out simple enough, but the builds into a weird didgeridoo pad that carries the rhythm throughout the song, blended with some minimal acid stabs. It seems to me like Swordtail Records was trying to play things safe with this release, which is not necessarily a bad thing with the way the industry has been going, but I really do believe that labels that are willing to take risks with sounds, and push genres to the limit are the more successful ones. Unfortunately, I feel this release sounds too much like previously released progressive house available on the market these days. Track-list.
