John Deere? Isn't that the name of that manufacturer of agricultural products? Well, yes, but there's also another John Deere from Serbia who's more into exquisite progressive tunage. His name might not sound familiar, but he proves to be a more than credible producer with this 3-track release on Swordtail Records.

The original mix kicks in with a solid beat with the usual shakers and percussion, but soon enough, a cool low bass-line creates the first full impact. This is not for the faint-hearted, as Deere successfully mixes progressive elements with electrohouse effects into one stomping vibe. A simple melody consisting of reverb high tones and a supporting trancey synth build up to the climax, after which the beats kicks in, taking care of the finishing touch. It might not sound too original, but it sure does the trick.

The Feralcode Remix takes the original to a more grittier level with a dry kick and more electro-esque percussion and effects. This one sounds clearly 'darker' and aggressive. As the track proceeds, more and more techno influences are introduced, making this one a more rhythmic floor-filler without losing the melodic vibe. Really cool tune, definitely one that'll be in my sets the coming weeks.

The 'housey' version of the track comes in the form of Native's Trained Mix. The typical house rhythm goes with a funky low bass-line which makes this one a nice DJ-tool for deeper sets. The melody from the original is well kept, although slightly modified and thrown over a cool beat sequence. Overall, the track is a bit repetitive but, as said before, definitely suitable for afterhours as it is truly hypnotizing.

John Deere and his remix friends deliver a quality release well worth checking out. The package contains tunes that can be used in all types of sets, without sounding too difficult or experimental, and I look forward to hearing more from this guy in the future.
