Next September sees C-Jay releasing his new album Magnanimity (watch this space for a review!), but first, a new single from this talented Dutch producer has just hit digital stores worldwide. Nethercutter has been produced in conjunction with DJ 19, and has already seen inclusion on numerous compilations over the past 1,5 years. The official single release features two remixes by Australian outfit Ashton Shuffle and is a proper reflection of C-Jay and DJ 19's trademarked sound.

The original version is a dark-waved tech house stomper that kicks off with loud beats and loads of pulsating synths and basses. The uptempo rhythm provides great deal of energy while more and more techno elements are added. One of the most remarkable aspects of this track is the prolific use of bass, with recurring buzzes making up a sinister yet dynamic vibe. The track literally oozes with techy percussion and proggy synths without sounding hectic: all sounds are used in such a way that they serve a purpose, turning the overall into an exciting floor-filler with plenty of surprising elements. The cut-up vocals in the break create some sort of 'bridge' to the climax, which comes in the form of a full-throttle rhythm overwhelmed with epic strings and trancey keys. A steaming hot production, hands down!

The first Ashton Shuffle remix is the Vox version, which blasts off with a series of punchy kicks, 'glass bottle' synth snippets and a beefy bass-line that provides a bit of melody to the sequence. A great electrohouse-esque stomper so far. The poppy vocals are nice, although they do not really add much value. The instrumentals are very well done, with extra credit for that fancy bass-line in the middle of the track. As the track proceeds, the overall vibe seems to switch towards a more progressive structure featuring a well produced break with some entrancing synths. Another deep prog rocker remarked by an outstanding production!

The Ashton Shuffle Dub serves as a full-on club killer and brings along a great deal of woofer blowing bass-lines. The rhythm's ace, but the bass does the talking on this one. Growling buzzes support a series of acid-sounding bits with occasional (well placed) breaks that give the track a real 'live mix' feel. Extra kudos for the dynamic acid sounds, but be sure to check out the track's big break: it's one big 'live orgy' full of cut up vocals and some weird effects, only to kick in in full effect again with big fat stomper kicks, freaked out synth modulation and bowel-rocking bass-lines! There's plenty of adventure to keep the action going... One to rock any club with!

Shout outs to 19Box for finally releasing Nethercutter! The original tune is a killer on its own, but Ashton Shuffle has managed to come with two equally earthquakin' slammers as well. Prog aficionado's and electro house should definitely check this one out.
