Laurent Garnier and Carl Craig are about to deliver the sixth edition in the Kings of... series, named Kings of Techno. This two-disc compilation, to be released early October, promises to be a trip down memory lane in which Garnier and Craig present the records that have unsurprisingly been of great influence to the sound of techno.

Don't expect just techno on this compilation though, as the track-list features a myriad of styles, taking the listener from Funk and Soul to the bare essence of the genre without missing out on some italo-disco in the process. Disc one starts off with Frenchman Laurent Garnier selecting original Motown classics by artists such as The Stooges, The Temptations and Aretha Franklin, while later switching to all-time Techno classics by Jeff Mills, Carl Craig and Arpanet.

Detroit-native Carl Craig focuses more on tracks from across the Atlantic with cuts by artists such as Visage, Kano, Balil and Alexander Robotnick. The Kings of... series is a concept set up by the Rapster label, meant to present a clear overview of the origin of various music styles. Previous editions covered the roots of hip-hop, soul, jazz and funk.

The compilation will be released by Rapster/K7! on 3 October.
