' The foundations of the city of Amsterdam will shake for three days and nights as over 475 DJ's and artists will perform on literally dozens of club nights.' | October 19th sees the kick-off to Europe's most prestigious happening in electronic dance music: the Amsterdam Dance Event. The foundations of the city of Amsterdam will shake for three days and nights as over 475 DJ's and artists will perform on literally dozens of club nights. During the day, expositions, lectures and showcases can be visited, providing you an inside look on the latest developments in the music industry. We hereby present you a fresh update about the latest issues revolving around this must-visit, including the four coolest club nights and some inevitable cancellations. There has been a slight change in the ADE program regarding some events. Listed below is what's changed: - The Southern Fried Records party with Mighty Dub Katz aka Norman Cook of October 19th has been replaced by an extra night at the Paradiso venue entitled ADE Noodlanding!. The musical tastemakers of the night are DJ's Gildas, The Glimmers and Justice.
Location: Melkweg Lineup: Dave Clarke, Miss Kittin, Terence Fixmer, Shinedoe, Dimi Angélis, Octave One, Robert Hood. The first official night of the ADE starts of with solid Techno and Electro. Lille-based Terence Fixmer has been influenced by the dark krautrock of DAF, Front 242 and Nitzer Ebb, and has been producing tracks since 1992. Over the years, Fixmer gained credibility by remixing Sven Väth and by setting up his prestigious imprint Planete Rouge Records. The story of Shinedoe is perhaps even more remarkable, as she started out as a dancer for the Dutch legendary electronic act Quazar. Shinedoe's talent in mixing the finest in Detroit techno eventually led to the highly successful Sound Traveling album which gained loving responses from all around the globe. Detroit-pioneers Octave One are perhaps best known for their 2002 massive hit single Blackwater, featuring vocals by Ann Saunderson (Kevin Saunderson's wife) and as the founders of one of the best known Detroit labels: 430 West Records. Robert Hood formed the legendary Underground Resistance together with Jeff Mills and 'Mad' Mike Banks, and has developed himself into a pioneer with a perfect sense for the finest minimal Detroit Techno. Dimi Angélis, born in Corfu and raised in the Netherlands has been influenced by the likes of Steve Rachmad and Laurent Garnier, and has been releasing tracks on Rachmad's Ion label. With several releases in the pipeline, this young DJ/Producer is ready for international activities. This Is Amsterdam This Is Amsterdam will certainly become a colorful event, as DJ's from various countries team up to present the latest in electronic dance music. The night is not limited to one music style only, as the lineup consists of prolific artists that each have a unique style. Sander Kleinenberg's international credibility comes forth from his personal taste and liking, without being bothered by the opinion of other people on what's hot. He started his own imprint Little Mountain Recordings, as well as that his This Is Everybody albums proved to be a big hit on a global level. His style comes closest to Electronic Body Rocking or as he states himself: “spacey in your head, funky in your butt”. Deep Dish recently announced that its members will be focusing on individual careers for a while, with Sharam being one of the headliners of this night. His funky Deep House is a welcome sound in today's dance scene and has resulted in gigs at the world's best clubs and events. Rene Amesz is one of the producers licensed to Little Mountain Recordings, delivering a unique blend of Progressive and House. His DJ-sets are considered uplifting and deep at the same time making him one of the rising stars in the Dutch dance scene. A person not limited to a single side of the dance industry is Bart Thimbles. Thimbles has been working as a DJ, label owner, programmer, remixer/producer and A&R manager, and has therefore a perfect sense of what's going on in the industry. He has performed at the first big rave in the Netherlands in 1991 and owns the Therapy imprint. Creativity is the middle name of multi-instrumentalist Praful. After relocating from Germany to Amsterdam in the late 80's, Praful developed himself into a sax/flute/Bansuri player, with a sound that mixes Jazz, Triphop, Dance and West-African music into a mysterious package. Praful, being a true globetrotter and speaking seven languages fluently, states the whole planet as his inspiration and has been signed to Therapy Records in 2001. Svendex performs with a sound that comes as close as a mix of House, Electro, and Techno, which has lead him to the decks of many Dutch clubs. His adventurous gigs are uplifting and powerful, without resulting in clichés. Lounge-pioneer Monte La Rue, owner of the Disque Deluxe imprint, has been delivering quality release in the field of Jazz, world music and Latin for many years now, and has worked for various companies in the dance music industry. Next to his gigs, he is also involved in the production of music for companies such as Louis Vutton, Microsoft, Bacardi and Nokia. Houseplay vs. Dig Deeper International big shots Nick Warren and Danny Howells are bound to rock the Panama venue with the best House music around, accompanied by their Dutch colleagues Marcello, Marysol, Marcella, Miss Monica, and Dennis Christopher while the venue will get visualized by VJ pioneer Micha Klein. Nick Warren started DJing at age 21 and started his own club called Wiggle a few years later. His highly acclaimed sound consisting of House and Progressive has lead to superstardom worldwide plus the mixing of a series of Global Underground CD's. Danny Howells is another UK hot shot who has keeping track of House music right from the very beginning. With over 14 years of experience, Danny has developed a highly unique House sound containing both brand new and classic tunes, making him one of the most beloved artists on this planet. Marcello is one of those Dutch DJ's who introduced the sound of House music in the Netherlands. Starting out as resident DJ in club iT in the early 90's, the DJ is now in charge of two weekly club events at the Escape Venue (Rush and Chemistry), of which the Chemistry concept has been awarded six times with the prize of Best Dutch Club Event. Hailing from Chile, Marysol dedicated herself to her true love for music after relocating from Paris to Amsterdam. She is one of Chemistry's resident DJ's, and a well-known face in the festival scene, having played at Extrema, Impulz and New Frontiers. The name of Marcella might not ring a bell immediately, but this rising star certainly knows all about how to entertain clubs and venues. The House scene recently witnessed the welcome return of one of the nicest ladies in the bizz. DJ Miss Monica. After a long time of sickness, Monica returns to bang the club with her own unique, uplifting sounds. Rock & Rave Slave For those who prefer the dirty, dirty sound of contemporary electronics, Rock & Rave Slave presents a night full of Electro-outlaws, with a very special guest in the form of Arthur Baker. Baker started his DJ-career when some of today's biggest DJ's were rocking their mother's womb, as he performed with (Philly) Soul in Boston. Cajuan immediately established himself with his hit single Dance/Not Dance, which featured track-list of numerous DJ's worldwide. His punky style and look resulted in an international breakthrough, while being supported by lots of international DJ's. Christopher Just' smash record I'm A Disco Dancer rocked every single club in 2005, and his collaborations and live-shows are highly danceable full of weird electronic clicks and effects. Freaks more or less covers the same story as Just, with the hit single Music For Freaks being another record that topped the dance charts for weeks in 2005. Expect electro combined with melodic minimal during this gig. Amsterdam-based band Matik is often compared to bands such as LCD Soundsystem and The Killers, meaning that Rock and Electro are combined into danceable compositions. Hailing from New York, the electronic live band of Motor blows the roofs of clubs with an energetic and vicious mix of experimental Techno and filthy Electro. The band was one of this summer's big surprises. Quiet Village is the moniker of Matt Edwards and Joel Martin who are responsible for a whole series of remixers for artists such as Cosmi Vitelli and Allez Allez, combining laid-back psychedelica with down-tempo grooves and vocals. One of the wackiest act in the field of Electro is Rex The Dog, consisting of a DJ/Producer/Remixer who claims to make music together with his dog. Their style is a rocking mix of House and Electro, sounding futuristic and highly uplifting at the same time. VJ OOKaap takes care of the essential visuals. Classual The Mansion brings you a night of solid house grooves filled with electronic bits and lots, lots of funk. The 365Mag crew wishes all of you party people a great time at the ADE.
