British electropunk outfit The Prodigy are about to launch their own record label entitled Ragged Flag. According to the band's founder and producer Liam Howlett, the first release is an all-new Prodigy album.

Ragged Flag will be backed by independent imprint Cooked Vinyl, meaning that the long-term relationship with XL Recordings has come an end. “We have been planning this for a while and we are looking forward to building our label up, starting off with the release of the new Prodigy album” says Howlett. “We have recorded a few songs already for this next album and they are sounding big and mean”. So far, other names that'll be contributing to the label have not yet been confirmed, although the band's mission is to develop the label into a platform for new talent.

The Prodigy has always been one of the most rebellious and extravagant acts in the history of electronic dance music. Named after Liam Howlett's very first synthesizer, the Moog Prodigy, the outfit shot to fame after releasing the 1991 single Android and the What Evil Lurks EP. The band's discography furthermore includes tracks such as the highly successful rave anthem Out Of Space, Voodoo People, Firestarter, and Breathe. Currently, the Prodigy is working on the follow-up of their chart breaking albums The Fat Of The Land, Music For The Jilted Generation and Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned.
