(Amsterdam, NL) - Trancemeister Tiësto has officially been announced as the new DJ for radio station 538 in the Netherlands. He is replacing DJ Jean, who had a weekly show over the last few years, as some argue to his frustration.

Jean, once a respected international DJ himself, recently made headlines by reportedly punching Paul Oakenfold last weekend, when they both played at Trance Energy, after Paul made some remarks about Jean's “cheesy” music style.

From April 6th onwards, Tiësto will host a two hour show from 22:00 till 24:00, of course dedicated to dance music. Although speculations have been running wild as of late, the announcement was finally made earlier today, in the radio program of now colleague DJ Edwin Evers.

According to Tiësto, or Tijs Verwest himself, the radio show represents a new step in his career, noting that preparing a radio show represents a significant difference in the way music is presented to an audience. “It is an opportunity for me to delve into different genres of music, whilst at parties, people tend to expect more or less one style.”

As of late, 538 have been very successful in recruiting big name international DJ's for their shows. A couple of months earlier, Roger 'S-man' Sanchez signed a deal for a weekly show on the channel.
