NEW UNKLE ALBUM TOUCHES DOWN IN JULY

Lavelle made his name in the 90s with the Mo' Wax label and has gone on to be a renowned DJ, playing all over the globe and releasing mix albums for Global Underground. | (London, UK) - July sees the release of the new album from acclaimed UK act, Unkle. The LP will be entitled War Stories, and is a further foray into the world of combining electronic music and rock. The group is headed up by DJ, producer and label boss James Lavelle. Lavelle made his name in the 90s with the Mo' Wax label and has gone on to be a renowned DJ, playing all over the globe and releasing mix albums for Global Underground. Ever versatile, Lavelle makes a vocal contribution on this third Unkle album. He also does a duet on the track Morning Rage with Unkle companion Richard File. Unkle has always been seen as a slightly alternative dance/rock crossover band, and War Stories is no exception. Luminaries such as Josh Homme (singer/guitarist from US alternative rock group Queens Of The Stone Age) and Robert Del Naja, aka 3D (Massive Attack) both featured on the previous Unkle album entitled Never, Never, Land in 2005 and are back for this latest LP. Rock singer Ian Astbury also features on the disc. It seems Unkle are not afraid to further blur the lines between dance and rock. When thinking of Unkle, dance fans may think of tracks such as In A State from 2003, with its epic Sasha mix, and the follow-up entitled Reign on British label Global Underground. However, the fact that Lavelle is so keen to embrace the rock world and push his sound to the next level deserves plaudits. Well worth checking out a copy of the album when it hits the stores in early July. |
