FIREFLY CELEBRATES ITS SEVENTH BIRTHDAY IN NOTTINGHAM

(London, UK) - Firefly, the techno and breaks fest that's the best reason to go partying in Nottingham, is celebrating its seventh birthday on Saturday 7 June. And they're doing it in style too, with guest DJs Justice, Busy P and Speedy J playing live too…

Firefly's come a long way since its founder Jeet first decided to put on a party to at Nottingham's Marcus Garvey Ballroom, to replace his favourite techno event which had formerly resided there. Early promotional devices included nailing poster to trees outside the university, but they've since moved on up in the world, promoting parties as far afield as Rome and Val d'Isere, the French ski resort. And as they say themselves, 'Seven parties is a massive milestone in dance music, but to keep running for seven years shows true longevity in an industry constantly defined by rapid and unpredictable change.'

And speaking of the rapid and unpredictable brings us quite naturally to Firefly's seventh birthday guests. With Justice, they've secured an act that should successfully get every clubber in the Marcus Garvey Ballroom dancing their socks off, if their recent form is anything to go by. Their new track D.A.N.C.E should get an airing and no doubt Never Be Alone will rock the spot with all hands being firmly in the air. Busy P (aka Pedro Winter) should also go down well - the head honcho of Ed Banger records is a top spinner in his own right, being one of the people responsible for the filthy electro sound that's revitalised French dance music of late.
