'Back in the golden days of the 90s, when drum and bass briefly went overground, the centre of the scene was the Metalheadz Sunday Sessions.'

(London, UK) - After being one the Blue Note in Hoxton's messiest parties back in the 90s, the Metalheadz Sunday Sessions have become a much-missed part of London's clubbing history. But while it seemed like his fellow D'n'B don Grooverider has taken over with his Grace session down at Herbal, now Goldie is getting his promoters groove back as he re-launches the original Sunday drum and bass session bi-weekly at Islington venue Clockwork.

Back in the golden days of the 90s, when drum and bass briefly went overground, the centre of the scene was the Metalheadz Sunday Sessions. Promoter and chief basshead Goldie wasn't just a shadowy presence in the background, he was centre stage, mixing, partying, and just enjoying the scene that he helped create. Metalheadz Sunday Sessions re-launch at Clockwork in Islington on Sunday 30 September, with specially extended hours of 7pm-2am. The sessions will usually go until midnight (costing £8 for the re-launch, £6 usually, a pound less for students) but the first one is a very special affair. Goldie will be DJing, as will his original residents: Grooverider, Doc Scott, Fabio, Randall, Storm and Bailey. MCs on duty will be Moose and Rage.

Golide's early track as a recording artist, Terminator, saw him go by the name Metalheadz, a name he would later bequeath to his beloved label. And the always-effusive Goldie was never going to throw a party that didn't rock very, very hard. But this isn't about hearing the D & B Top 10. Back in the day this was where the big D'n'B faces came to hear the latest tunes, a policy that's being encouraged again today. So to hear the freshest dubs and party with the DJs who run the scene, drop by Pentonville Rd every other Sunday night.
