' the CDJ-400 has been designed to keep DJs in tune with the latest digital developments, adding new levels of performance to their sets ' - Jason Pook, European Product Development Manager, Pioneer Europe

(Tokyo, JP) - After announcing their new flagship, the impressive four channel video mixer SVM 1000, the Pioneer diesel-engine rambles on, with more new DJ products speeding down the conveyor belt. Yesterday November 7th marked the announcement of yet another CD player in the company's expanding range, namely the CDJ 400 deck. For those losing track, its positioned somewhere between the very affordable CDJ 100 and the industry standard CDJ 1000 mkIII, still tailored more to the ambitious home user than professional club (ab)use.

Usually every new installment of Pioneer products comes with a certain degree of technological innovation, irrespective of its position on the home user-pro user axis, and this device marks no exception. Apart from support from a host of USB compatible-MP3 sources, a set of new 'scratch jog fx' there is also Midi support, both for the units buttons and its 'jog wheel' rendering it possible to control software such as Serato Scratch, Traktor Scratch or any other similar program, through the unit's USB output.

“the CDJ-400 has been designed to keep DJs in tune with the latest digital developments, adding new levels of performance to their sets', says Jason Pook, European Product Development Manager, Pioneer Europe. True that, semi-digijocks can probably live without their timecode discs but on a home level still. Now the wait is for a professional implementation, which is likely to follow soon after; in fact all high end pioneer mixers already feature a midi implementation of some sorts.
