'It takes real skill to make a tune that can combine these two extremes, something that Alex Parsons isn't short of.'

(London, UK) - Very few 25-year-olds can say that they've been called the best artist on one of house music's most well considered labels, but it's happened to Londoner Alex Parsons. Sebastien Léger labelled him the best thing about Brique Rouge, high praise indeed for a label whose roster contains the likes of label boss David Duriez, D'Julz and Alexkid from their native France, as well as Mike Monday, Johnny Arthur and Tommy Four Seven from the UK.

But Alex's skills as both a DJ and a producer mark him out as a rare talent; with his productions combining the stripped-down electronics that are so popular on the underground house scene, with a very melodious sensibility that makes dance-floor explosions commonplace. Retouch and Waterhouse are good examples of his 2007 output for Brique Rougue, the former a driving techy number, the latter a more minimal, twisted affair. But 365Mag's favourite track of young Mr Parson's has to be Sixties Nightshade, which came out this year on UK label Urbantorque. A darkly throbbing affair that streams along like a night-time getaway ride with the police in hot pursuit, it's a track that mixes subtly with pure, 'maximal' bass-line brilliance. It takes real skill to make a tune that can combine these two extremes, something that Alex Parsons isn't short of.
