CAN YOU BEAR IT WITH DANNY RAMPLING, TERRY FARLEY, THE PET SHOP BOYS AND MADNESS

'Dainton was a warm, kind, loveable friend, a huge Arsenal fan and a larger- than- life character, famous in North London and beyond.' (the Pet Shop Boys pay tribute to their much-loved pal)

(London, UK) - The great and the good of British music over the last 20 years turn out at Heaven on Friday 2 May, to raise funds for the family of North London music and football legend Dainton 'Denton' Connell. DJs like the above plus Judge Jules, Spoony, Tall Paul, Brandon Block and Nicky Holloway join live acts like the Pet Shop Boys (who will be joined in a duet with Suggs and Carl
from Madness, for the first time ever!) to celebrate The Bear's life and see to his family's future.

Even though it's the DJs who get all the press, let's not forget that it takes a lot to make a successful act - only a fraction of which we see when the performers get on stage. 'Denton' or 'The Bear' as Dainton Connell will forever be known to fans of the Pet Shop Boys and/or fans of Arsenal Football Club, was one of those 'backstage' types… well, at least technically. He worked in security first, but then became a personal assistant to the Pet Shop Boys from their 1989 tour onwards. His huge stature - hence the animal alias - and even bigger personality resonated with both the band and their fans, which resulted in his appearances in the videos for PSB tracks, Jealousy, So Hard and Was It Worth It?

Denton was more of a friend to the PSB than anything else, hence this reaction when he died suddenly in a car accident in October 2007. 'Dainton was a warm, kind, loveable friend, a huge Arsenal fan and a larger-than-life character, famous in North London and beyond. We are devastated by his sudden and tragic death and our thoughts and condolences are with his wife, Mandy, and their family.'

The worlds of the football fan and the clubber are often linked, with loyalty to old friends being a common bond in both worlds - especially as so many DJs were ardent football fans before they had even heard of electronic music. Denton was a presence at Arsenal all his life, yet another reason that so many world-class DJs are turning out for this 4-room extravaganza. Denton; see how you're still bringing people together. R.I.P.
