'95% of every dollar you give goes out into the field, and this is provable.' (Jay Haze is serious about helping out the Congo)

(Berlin, DE) - Jay Haze has mixed Fabric 47, which will mightily please his legion of fans. But while he's created a mix that's as deliciously twisted as a Saturday night at the club, he's also pledged to donate his profits from the CDs sales to Merlin Health Services, a charity that's helping out in the war-torn Democratic Republic of the Congo. Plus he's donating half his DJ fees to the cause from September to the end of 2009, as well as the take from his forthcoming world tour. Nice one Jay!

In tough times like these, it's easy to pull the shutters down and refuse to think about anything apart from making enough money to pay the rent, and then enjoy yourself as much as possible. And that probably goes double for DJs; who with a few notable exceptions rarely stick their necks out for anything resembling a worthy cause. But this is Jay Haze we're talking about. He's made a career out of doing things differently…

In fact, not many DJs talk about the bad times in their lives - most are just happy to take the money and run. But Jay's been forthright about having been homeless on more than one occasion, which is what led him to be so involved with charity work.

Jay explains, 'I work with different charities, and because Fabric is a UK company, I wanted to honour that and do something in the UK, so I'm working with Merlin Health Services. What they do is really positive, and 95% of every dollar you give goes out into the field, and this is provable. Right now, they're working in Congo, a country of 75 million people that's been in civil war for 50 years. 1200 people die every day of simple things, preventable things, and it breaks my heart.'
