FABRIC CELEBRATES A DECADE OF UNDERGROUND BRILLIANCE
| ||
|
'Fabric's tenth birthday was always going to be a bit special, wasn't it?' | (London, UK) - Fabric celebrates ten years of underground musical excellence from Thursday 15th to Sunday 18th October. This will be the mammoth bash to end them all, with Playaz and Dub Police on Thursday, Fabriclive mixing it all up on Friday and Saturday night beginning an underground house, techno and disco-fest that doesn't end until Monday morning. Yes, you read that right… Starring Ricardo Villalobos, Doc Martin, Steve Bug, Andrew Weatherall… Fabric's tenth birthday was always going to be a bit special, wasn't it? We're used to a weekend-long knees-up involving some big-time bass (it's not a Fabric birthday without Andy C and Hype giving it some) but alongside Thursday's Playaz D'n'B-fest in Room 1, there's also Caspa's wildly popular Dub Police night patrolling Room 2, with Benga, Skream and more artists yet to be revealed. 'Sick' doesn't really cover it… But that's not even half the story. Friday's Fabriclive sesh should be a special one - Simian Mobile Disco showcase the electro sound that's been so vital to Fridays these days in Room 1, alongside the Filthy Dukes, Shinichi Osawa and many more acts still secret at this stage. Plus there's more filthy bass action in Room 2, with DJ Craze, Zinc, Joe Ransom and the mighty, mighty Scratch Perverts busting out… well, whatever they can mix up. Room 3's still to be announced, but you've gotta admit that looks pretty good so far. And then comes Saturday… or more accurately, Saturday, Sunday and a good portion of Monday too. That's how long it's going down, a party that doesn't stop. In their own words, 'Some artists will play one set, and some will play multiple sets in different rooms over the rather epic 2 day bender. It will be a family affair through and through, with a soundtrack that will concurrently celebrate the past as much as look forward to the future.' So, who's playing? Well, it's more of a case of 'Who isn't?' The old school comes correct with Weatherall, Doc Martin, Kenny Larkin and Daniel Bell in the place, alongside the indescribably Ricardo Villalobos (who will hopefully have had a kip before he plays), mixed-up disco dons Rub N Tug, Matthew Jonson (live), West Coast deep house faves Hipp-E and Halo and minimal maestro Steve Bug. And there's even more in the works... Happy Birthday Fabric! |
