'During their short sabbatical, the musical pendulum has swung back towards their electronic sound, with the rising tide of New Rave artists helping to inspire a younger generation of glowstick- waving club kids.' | (Melbourne, AUS) - Orbital will perform with their full live show on Friday 19th February 2010 with Jeff Tyler, Eric Powell and Mat Radovich at Billboard in Melbourne. This will be the first time the UK megastars of techno-tinged electronic will play their incredible live show to Australian music lovers since 1992. Formed in 1989 and influenced by punk rock and early electro, the Hartnoll brothers cemented ORBITAL'S legendary status with 1994's headline performance at Glastonbury Festival, dazzling dance and rock fans alike - classed by Q Magazine as one of the top 50 gigs of all time. Following a five-year break, ORBITAL reformed in 2009 and have taken the UK summer festival circuit by storm topping the bill at The Big Chill, Get Loaded, London Freeze and Global Gathering playing to over 350,000 people. The stage is set for a show that promises to be a part of music history. With a live show that blends an extraordinary level of improvisation and visuals; rave reviews and adoring fans have welcomed the duo back to the stage where they are on top of their game, still sounding effortlessly excellent today. As their 20th anniversary looms, the time feels right for ORBITAL to reclaim their Electronic throne. During their short sabbatical, the musical pendulum has swung back towards their electronic sound, with the rising tide of New Rave artists helping to inspire a younger generation of glowstick-waving club kids. 'It's not an exercise in nostalgia at all, the time just seems right... after 20 years of being together.' Phil Hartnoll ORBITAL Always leaving room for improvisation on stage, unlike many electronic acts, Paul and Phil are world-class experts at building up large crowds into a frenzy of excitement. Their offstage manner may be deadpan and low-key, but their live performances are orgies of sensory overload and revved-up euphoria. Their perfectly placed samples of Bon Jovi, Belinda Carlisle, The Darkness and Ian Dury always raise loud cheers too. Even at their triumphant peak, ORBITAL never forget their sense of humour.
